Draft Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan

Council has prepared the Draft Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan based on feedback received during the initial consultation period and ongoing discussions with the community and key stakeholders.

This stage of consultation involves the community having their say on the Draft Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan.

Council will consider all feedback, ideas and suggestions to refine and develop the Draft Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan.

Submissions made during the draft public consultation period will be reviewed by the project team and considered in the preparation of the final Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan. The final Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan will then be prepared for Council endorsement.

Proposed improvement works include:

  • Rebranding of the facility from Warrina Lakes to “Warrina Lakes Community Parklands”;
  • A nature playground;
  • A bmx pump track;
  • A frogarium;
  • An orchid house;
  • Two new wetlands with bird hides;
  • A lake viewing/wedding platform;
  • A pop up outdoor cinema;
  • Significant revegetation areas;
  • Linkages through to the Warrina Retirement Village;
  • Various footpath, lighting and parking improvement; and
  • Increased vegetation/landscaping.

A number of existing attractions and facilities are proposed to be retained, such as the historic covered shed, mini rail, Anzac Avenue and the Mamu Bush Tucker Garden.

Implementation of the Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan will be a matter for Council’s further consideration, as part of its annual budget deliberations and implementation of its works and maintenance programs.

The Warrina Lakes Strategic Master Plan will be used to apply for state and federal funding for projects outlined within the implementation plan.
